The Kuari Pass Trek, one of the oldest in Uttarakhand’s Garhwal region, is famously known as The Lord Curzon’s Trail after the 1905 visit of Lord Curzon, the then Viceroy of India. Located in the Chamoli district, this trek is a favorite among adventurers, offering breathtaking views of India’s 2nd and 3rd highest peaks, Mt. Nanda Devi and Mt. Kamet. The 6-day journey, rated easy to moderate, features a diverse landscape with sights of peaks like Mt. Neelkanth, Mt. Dronagiri, and Mt. Hathi Ghoda. The adventure begins in Rishikesh, leading to the base camp in Joshimath, and officially starts from Dhak village, passing through cliffside villages, lush forests, and open grasslands with snowy Himalayan backdrops.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Dehradun to Pipalkoti/Joshimath | 252 km drive, 11-12 hours
Pick up from Rishikesh at 7:00 AM for a drive to Pipalkoti/Joshimath, passing through Devprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag. Breakfast and lunch will be at roadside inns, paid individually. Upon arrival at Pipalkoti, accommodation will be in a guest house or hotel. Dinner will be served, followed by a quick introduction and briefing session with the trek leader and fellow travelers.
Day 2 : Pipalkoti/Joshimath to Gulling | Trek Distance: 7 km | Duration: 5-6 hours | Altitude gain: 6,150 ft to 9000 ft
After breakfast, leave for the Tugasi village roadhead and begin the trek to Guling campsite. Arrive at the campsite around lunchtime. In the evening, enjoy an acclimatization walk, followed by evening snacks and dinner at the campsite.
Day 3 : Gulling to Khulara camp site | Trek Distance: 6 km | Duration: 5-6 hours | Altitude gain: 9000 ft to 11800 ft
After breakfast at Guling campsite, trek to Khulara camp. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch and a short acclimatization walk. End the day with dinner and rest at the campsite.
Day 4 : Trek to Kuari Pass and descend to Tali Camp | Trek Distance: 11 km | Duration: 8-10 hours | Altitude gain: 11800 ft to 12500 ft
On summit day, leave early for Kuari Pass after breakfast. Return to Tali campsite by evening.
Day 5 : Descend to Tugasi/Dhak and Drive to Pipalkoti/Joshimath
After breakfast, begin the descent towards Pipalkoti. Drive to Pipalkoti and spend the night in a hotel.
Day 6 : Pipalkoti/Joshimath to Rishikesh | 252 km drive, 10-11 hours
After breakfast, depart for Rishikesh with an expected arrival time of 7:00 PM.
