The Tungnath Chandrashila trek, located in Uttarakhand’s Himalayas, is a 3-day journey showcasing the region’s beauty with stops at Chopta, Deoriatal, Tungnath Temple, and Chandrashila Peak (4,000 meters). Chopta, a serene hill station, is known for its meadows, evergreen forests, and stunning sunsets. Deoriatal, a picturesque emerald lake at 2,438 meters, reflects the majestic Chaukhamba Peak in its clear waters. Tungnath Temple, at 3,680 meters, is the highest Shiva temple in the world, set in the Rudraprayag district. Above it lies Chandrashila, or Moon Peak, offering panoramic views of towering Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kedar Dome, and Bandarpoonch.

Itinerary

Day 1 : Haridwar to Chopta | 240 km Drive | Altitude: 7874 ft

Pick up from Haridwar at 7:00 AM and drive to Chopta, passing through Rishikesh, Devprayag, Srinagar, and Rudraprayag. Upon arrival at Chopta, settle into deluxe camps. Dinner will be served, followed by a quick introduction and briefing session with the tour leader before resting for the night.

After breakfast, begin the trek to Tungnath Temple with an easy to moderate ascent, usually taking 3-4 hours. Continue the climb to Chandrashila Summit, where you’ll have a packed lunch at the peak. Descend back to Chopta by evening and enjoy the stunning sunset. Overnight stay will be in the camps.

Leave early from Chopta and drive to Sari village. From there, hike for 2 hours to Deoriyatal and enjoy the stunning reflection of the mighty Chaukhamba peak on the lake. Descend back to Sari village by lunchtime, then drive back to Haridwar with an expected arrival time of 11:00 PM.
