Kartik Swami Temple, located near Kanakchauri village on the Rudraprayag-Pokhari route in Uttarakhand, is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya, the elder son of Lord Shiva. A 3 km trek from Kanakchauri village takes you to this serene temple. It is believed that Lord Kartikeya offered his bones as a symbol of devotion to his father, an incident that is said to have occurred at this site. Kartik Swami is also known as Kartik Murugan in Southern India. The temple is known for its Sandhya Aarti (evening prayers), the chanting of mantras, and the occasional Maha-Bhandara (grand feast), attracting both devotees and tourists alike.

Day 1 : Departure from Rishikesh/Dehradun and Arrival at Kanakchauri Village

Pick-up from Rishikesh/Dehradun at 6:00 AM for a 7-8 hour drive to Kanakchauri village, with breakfast and lunch en route  Arrive in the evening, check-in to a guest house or campsite, enjoy a local dinner, and receive a trek briefing before resting for the night.

After an early breakfast, start the 3 km trek to Kartik Swami Temple, enjoying scenic views along the way. Upon reaching the temple, explore and offer prayers while taking in the panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas. Enjoy a packed lunch or simple meal at the temple, followed by Sandhya Aarti (evening prayers) and optionally the Maha-Bhandara (grand feast). Descend back to Kanakchauri village, have dinner, and rest for the night. The next day, after breakfast, begin the return trek to Kanakchauri, then drive back to Rishikesh/Dehradun, arriving by 6:00 PM.
