Kunjapuri Temple, located at 1676 m (5500 ft) near Rishikesh, offers a unique experience for both spiritual seekers and adventure lovers. While some choose to visit the temple by vehicle, all visitors must ascend 80 steep steps to reach it. The trek to Kunjapuri Temple, which is about 30 km from Rishikesh and 25 km from Tapovan, has become popular for its breathtaking sunrise views. From the temple, trekkers can witness majestic mountain peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpunch, Gangotri, and Chaukhamba. The trek also takes you through lush green forests and hidden waterfalls, making it an ideal short hike for nature lovers and adventurers.

Itinerary
Day 1 : Rishikesh to Kunjapuri Temple and Trek Down
The One Day Hike to Kunjapuri Temple starts from Tapovan, covering a 9 km steep climb that takes around 5-6 hours. Along the way, you’ll pass through the Secret Waterfall and Badhera Village, offering scenic views. Once at Kunjapuri Temple, you can pay homage to the deity and enjoy the breathtaking surroundings. The return trek is 12 km and follows an easier descent through beautiful forest trails. En route, you’ll encounter Neer Waterfall, where you can take a refreshing bath if time permits. Passing Dharkot Village, you’ll complete the trek back to Tapovan. The route traverses lush forests and remote Himalayan villages, providing both natural beauty and cultural insights.
